Our Purpose
Urban Moments began as an independent effort to observe and preserve the quieter details of city life across Canada. Rather than focusing on landmarks or events, the project turns its attention to the routines that make up daily existence: a commute at dawn, a conversation at a market stall, a street reshaped overnight by construction.
Our Approach
Every photograph in the archive is taken candidly, without staging, in public and semi-public spaces. Contributors work across cities of different sizes, from major metropolitan centers to smaller communities, to build a broad and honest picture of urban Canadian life as it changes season to season and year to year.
Who We Are
The project is maintained by a small group of independent photographers and editors. It receives no commercial sponsorship and exists purely as an ongoing visual record, shared openly through headlinexel.org.
